The idea that 'The Glorious Revolution' was a Dutch invasion is wrong! It was actually a popular revolution, and James II realised that he could not fight William as the regime was collapsing.

You could bring this into the classroom by challenging pupils with different interpretations, especially in regards to the new GCSE questions.

Helen MacGregor, Head of History at Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet was inspired to suggest this teaching idea after hearing Professor Tim Blanning's lecture How glorious was 'The Glorious Revolution'? at our 2016 History Summer Residential.

Schools Programme members can download the resources from the event, including a podcast of the talk, in the PTI Staffroom.
