Leadership

For their Schools Leadership Programme project, Christleton High School will define and systemise the "Apple Lesson" - the learning one sees in an Apple shop. They are conducting a thorough, evidenced investigation into subject teaching best practice which develops creativity. This will enable a clear identification of the place of subject knowledge and expertise when delivering lead lessons, formal lessons and peer led lessons. The purpose of this is to clarify outstanding practice and separate it from enjoyable activity which does not add value. They will then produce a guide from the findings.

Their research involves commissioning a series of pilot studies and working with other schools and partners in industry and academia. They will measure the impact of their research on deep learning through greater understanding of subject learning and teaching, and examine when to apply the most suitable methodology on the continuum: lecturing - class teaching - structured peer teaching - collaborative learning - group work.
